13 Classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games return in The Cowabunga Collection!

Two days ago, Konami revealed they are collaborating with Nickelodeon and partnering up with game developer Digital Eclipse to re-release 13 classic TMNT to modern consoles! This collection - titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection - ranges from titles from the arcades, the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the Sega Genesis, and the Game Boy. All of them were inspired and based around the 1987 cartoon that was airing on TV at the time, as well as the original Mirage comic book and even the Archie comic book.

The game list goes as follows

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Sega Genesis)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan (Game Boy)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From The Sewers (Game Boy)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)

Additionally, the game will come with their Japanese counterparts as well! The only exceptions are for TMNT (Arcade) and TMNT: Tournament Fighters (NES), which have none. Online support for multiplayer will be provided for TMNT (Arcade), TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade), TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist, and TMNT Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo).

The player will also be able to save their game at any point, as well as rewind to an earlier point if they made a mistake somewhere. (This will no doubt prove valuable to some games, such as the notoriously difficult Tournament Fights (Sega Genesis))

The game will also come with extras, such as a Museum that compiles images from the original cartoons, comics, and other TMNT-related content. Additionally, there will also be never-before-seen development artwork, sketches, and game design material.

The game is planning to release sometime this year in 2022 and will retail at $39.99. The game will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

Master Splinter joins the battle in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge!

As revealed a few days ago, the Ninja Turtles sensei, Master Splinter, is the fifth playable character in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge! Though the initial reveal trailer teased this, this is outright confirmation of it.

Compared to his rambunctious kids, Splinter is more calm and stoic. As the one responsible for teaching the turtles the art of ninja, you can expect him to be quite the powerhouse. Along with attacking foes from afar with his walking cane, he can also use powerful ninjutsu techniques to overwhelm the various Foot Soldiers Shredder has sent out to gain up on our heroes.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is planning to release sometime in 2022.

Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joins Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!

As revealed earlier in the day, Shredder is the latest character who will join the battle in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!

Making his debut back in 1984 in the original Mirage comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shredder (real name Oroku Saki) was the first villain the Turtles - Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo - fought against. Saki's older brother, Oroku Nagi, was one of the best members of the Foot clan, alongside another individual named Hamato Yoshi. Nagi and Yoshi fought each other over the love of a woman named Tang Shen. However, Shen only had eyes for Yoshi, which enraged Nagi. He ended up trying to attack Shen, only to be killed by Yoshi. Yoshi, Shen, and Yoshi's pet rat Splinter would then flee from Japan to America, due to Yoshi being disgraced for killing another member of the Foot Clan.

Saki, who admired his older brother, would swear revenge on Yoshi. He would return to Japan and join the Foot Clan, slowly climbing up the ranks until he was put in charge of the American branch of the Foot Clan. Taking on the mantle of "The Shredder," he took advantage of his new position to hunt Yoshi and Shen down to finally avenge his brother. Unknown to him, Yoshi's pet rat Splinter would manage to escape to the sewers, where he would end up finding four baby turtles and some mutagen that would mutate them into anthropomorphic forms.

15 years later, Shredder would confront the Ninja Turtles in a bloody battle. Leo would manage to stab him, giving Shredder the opportunity to die an honorable death. However, he decided to try to take them all down with a grenade, which Donatello whacked back at him, sending both the grenade and Shredder into the alley below, where the explosion did him in

All of that happened in the first issue, making him the shortest living Shredder among the various adaptions, though he would sort of "live on" through various clones the Foot Clan would try to create. By 1987, the franchise would receive a cartoon adaption with the same name, though it was heavily toned down to be suitable for kids. Here, Saki's origin story was that he was jealous of Yoshi's leadership, and set him up to look like he was planning to assassinate the Foot Clan leader. With Yoshi exiled to America, Saki would rise in the ranks until he became the leader of the Foot Clan, turning the noble ninja into an army of crime. It's also around here he would adopt the alias of "The Shredder."

Discontent with Yoshi's banishment, he moved to New York City to not only conquer it, but also rid himself of his former rival. At some point during this, Shredder would meet an alien named Krang, and the two would team up to try to take over New York City. Upon finding Hamato Yoshi, he would try to use Krang's Mutagen to kill him, only to unknowingly end up mutating Yoshi into a rat, as well as mutating four baby turtles into his worst enemies, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Befitting the Ninja Turtles arch-nemesis, Shredder towers over the other characters, and has lightning-fast moves. Most of his attacks involve him using the claws on his armor to try to shred his foes, though a few attacks also use weapons, such as using a spear and a sword. One of Shredder's moves involves him grabbing a foe in the air and slamming them down into the ground!

Additionally, along with Shredder comes a new stage! Surprisingly, it's not a TMNT stage to go with Shredder, but rather a stage based on one of Nickelodeon's game shows, Double Dare! This stage has green goo below it, which the fighters slowly sink into. Better keep jumping, so you can escape to the upper platforms, unless you want to sink into the depths!

Shredder's alternate costume, which happens to be a reference to Shredder's appearance in Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Shredder is available to play right now, so if you haven't updated your game yet, you'd better do so! And with that, Shredder is the last free character for the game, with the rest - if any - having to be bought.

Are you happy that Shredder has joined the battle? Are you hoping that one of your favorite Nickelodeon characters can still manage to get in? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!

Additional characters, crossplay, and voice acting confirmed for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!

During a stream by famous Super Smash Bros. player HungryBox, the art director for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, Diego Hernández, hopped on and spoke about a number of features that he and the rest of the Ludosity team are planning on adding.

First of all is that they are working on the final free DLC character. For those who don't know, the game was intended to release with 22 playable characters, but had to drop two of them to get the game out on time. As a compromise, they decided to release them later on for free.

Garfield is one of the two characters. The other one is suspected to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' iconic foe, the Shredder, due to a few interesting files found when players datamined the game.

They also revealed that a couple more characters - as well as stages - are being worked on. When HungryBox asked if the new characters would "grant all of our wishes" or are "gonna blast our minds", Diego simply responded "maybe," which seems to imply that two of the characters being worked on may be Jimmy Neutron and Timmy Turner. Regardless, we'll mostly likely find out who they are as development on them gets closer to completion.

Crossplay is also in development, which will allow players to play against others who own the game, but on a different platform. (Thus, a PC player can play against Nintendo Switch, XBox One, XBox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4/5 users) Diego mentions that he and the team were planning on including this on launch, but felt they needed to test it out more before they included it.

Finally, Diego mentioned that they are adding a "highly requested feature," which was all but outright said to be voice acting. A very common complaint amongst reviewers was that all of the characters are completely silent in the game. While a reason was never given, it's often suspected by fans that voices never happened because of budget constraints, but it seems that the game's success has finally cleared that problem.

While a date for all of these has not been said, crossplay is expected to be released sometime in Q1 of 2022.

Alternate costumes arrive in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!

As revealed a couple of days ago on the the official Twitter page, alternate costumes have finally arrived in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as part of a free update!

Leonardo and Michelangelo's alternate costume has them in a black-n-white color scheme, making them resemble the 1984 Leo and Mikey from the original Mirage comic book. Meanwhile, April's costume is based on the "Channel 6 Newsvan" toy.

These range from SpongeBob wearing the #1 Soda Drinking Hat, Purple Reptar, and Leonardo and Michelangelo sporting black-n-white colors to resemble the 1984 turtles from the original Mirage comics!

Zim sporting his iconic "human disguise." Sadly, GIR doesn't wear his "dog disguise" when Zim is wearing this.

The bad news is that each character only gets one. According to Thaddeus - one of the producers for the game -  they had planned to add simple recolors for all of the characters. (SpongeBob, for instance, would've been recolored to have Patrick's, Squidward's, and Mr. Krabs's color scheme) However, for whatever reason, Nickelodeon said no to the idea, wanting the characters to only have "canon alts" instead (In other words, the developers could only use outfits the characters have worn in their shows, or in merchandising.) While it is great to have at least something to help one character stand out from another in mirror matches, a few characters suffer from minimal differences that are hard to spot at a glance.

Survey needs you to spot the difference between Korra's original outfit (left) and her alternate costume (right).

You can check out the video here!

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl release date confirmed, DLC and more in the works!

Yesterday on Game Informer, an interview with the CEO of Ludosity, Joel Nyström, by John Carson was posted. During the interview, Joel talked about their current project, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and revealed some new info!

One such example is that the roster was picked by both the devs of Ludosity, as well as their publisher, GameMill Entertainment. Joel mentions how they wanted fun characters from the shows they liked watching, such as Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys. He also notes that Nickelodeon was okay with their suggestion for characters, though there were a few that were rejected due to global licensing issues, though without specifying who they were.

Joel also revealed that he and his company have noticed that a lot of competitive Super Smash Bros. players have been keeping tabs on the game. He says that he and his team are happy about this, as the game being competitively viable for tournaments was one of their priorities from day one, and was even specifically requested by Nickelodeon. They also made sure to include rollback net code, which will allow players to have a stable connection with others.

When it comes to the game's full roster, it will have a total of twenty characters upon release, with two more coming afterwards as free DLC. He then teased that more DLC characters would be in the works, and for fans to look forward to it!

When asked about voice acting, Joel revealed that it isn't in the game, as they were more focused on delivering the best possible gameplay experience. However, he does note that it could happen later on down the road.

Finally, Joel confirms that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will release on October 5th, 2021. Previously, this was assumed to be the release date due to the Nintendo Online Store listing the game's preorder as such.

Gameplay for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl revealed!

Today on IGN, four videos were released, one showing off the game's mechanics, while the other three show off some in-game fights.

First, the gameplay explanation, featuring SpongeBob and his pal Patrick! As you can expect with a game inspired by Super Smash Bros., the main objective is to ring out your opponent. Each character has a damage percentage, and as they take hits, the percentage increases. The higher it is, the farther they fly!

The video also explain Light attacks (weak moves that help increase damage on your foes) Strong attacks (which will send a foe flying) and Special attacks (unique to each fighter). Each one has three versions: middle, up, and down. Additionally, if two different Strong attacks hit each other, one will take priority over the other. Down beats Middle, and will cause the opponent to stagger. Middle beats Up, and causes the opponent to turn around. Up beats Down, and causes the opponent to spin out.

Grabs can also be performed not only on the ground, but in the air as well! You can even grab an opponent's projectile attack and throw it back at them! Speaking of which, Strong attacks can reflect projectiles, and each reflect will make the projectile get stronger and faster up to a certain point.

Other mechanics of the game brought up are fighters being able to strafe  (in which the character will always face a certain direction if you hold the left trigger button on certain controllers) and Air Dashing, a move that boosts you in a certain direction, but you can only perform it once per time your in the air. Performing an Air Dash towards the ground will allow your character to perform a Wave Dash, allowing them to quickly slide on the ground and quickly follow up with an attack.

There were also some gameplay footage shown off! First is a fight between SpongeBob, Leonardo, April O' Neil, and Patrick on the Air Temple Stage from Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Next, CatDog get into a fierce battle with Lucy Loud on the Jellyfish Fields stage from SpongeBob SquarePants!

And finally, April O'Neil Vs. Nigel Thornberry on the Jellyfish Fields stage!

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is planned to be released on October 5th. Are you looking forward to getting it? Tell us in the comments below!

CatDog and April O'Neil join Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!

At Gamescom, GameMill Entertainment showed off a new trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, revealing that CatDog (from the show with the same name) and April O'Neil (from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who was - amusingly - confirmed to be playable in Shredder's Revenge yesterday) will join the battle!

From what can be seen from CatDog's trailer, you can switch which one of two are leading. While they share some moves, such as slamming a fire hydrant on top of anyone in front of them, both of them appear to have their own moves unique to them. Two examples are Dog spitting bones at his foes, and Cat comically strangling Dog while shoving him forward, which can hit anyone in front of them.

In addition to the usual punches and kicks, April can be seen using some of her recording equipment in her attacks. Some of them appear to be able to reflect projectile attacks back at the foe, and one of them seems to have April plant one of them in place. If it's attacked, it'll explode, though it appears to do no damage to the foe, so who knows what the move's actual purpose is at the moment.

Additionally, it's been confirmed that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will also be headed to PC via Steam, so PC players won't be left out on the fun!

April O'Neil confirmed as playable in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge!

As revealed yesterday in the Gamescom Stream, TMNT Shredder's Revenge is bringing another beloved TMNT character to play as in this upcoming side-scrolling beat-'em-up: April O'Neil!

Along with the regular punch and kick attacks, she's also seen using a recording camera and her microphone to attack Shredder's minions.

She'll also have some humorous reactions to certain enemy attacks, such as getting her hand bitten by a mouser.

The game also shows off a new mechanic: Team Moves! While the details of how to perform one isn't elaborated on, we can see April performing a dive-kick towards Leo, who proceeds to throw her at some incoming Foot Ninjas.

Though with this exciting news, there's also some bad: the game's release has been moved to sometime in 2022 next year, so TMNT fans will have to wait a bit longer before they can play the game.

Think there will be any more playable characters? The initial reveal trailer did show Splinter, so he's likely playable. Some fans are also hoping for Casey Jones to make an appearance as well. Write your thoughts in the comments below!

New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, Shredder's Revenge, announced!

Today on March 10 - also known to some as Mario day - "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" was announced. The game is being worked on by Tribute Games Inc., and will be published by Dotemu.Tribute Games Inc are known for working on "Flinthook and the Mercenary Kings", while Dotemu have worked on "Streets of Rage 4" and "Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap."

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" is a throwback to the classic TMNT Beat 'em Up games, and uses the art aesthetics of the iconic 1987 cartoon show. Players can pick between Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, or team-up in 4-player co-op.

From what little has been said about the story, Bebop and Rocksteady have invaded Channel 6 to steal some "gnarly devices" that will help Shredder and Krang out in their latest scheme. The turtles will go through many iconic locations of the series, from the sewers of New York City to Dimension X, to stop their nefarious plot. In addition, players will also do battle against iconic foes, such as the Foot Soldiers, Baxter Stockman, and the Triceraton Warriors.

The trailer for the game also showcases Splinter - the teacher of ninjutsu to the TMNT - and April O'Neil - friend and companion of the TMNT - beating up a few of the baddies in the game. Whether or not this means they'll be playable characters or not hasn't been said.

You can watch the game's trailer here! The game's release date is currently unknown, though it does have a page up on Steam.
