Kirby gets new powers in the Kirby and the Forgotten Land!

A new trailer shown in the Nintendo Direct goes into more depth with Kirby and the Forgotten Land... including a new power for Kirby called Mouthful Mode!

When Kirby tried to inhale certain objects - such as the car pictured above - he'll be able to get them in his mouth, but won't be able to fully swallow them, hence the name "Mouthful Mode." During this, Kirby will gain access to new abilities. In Car Mouth mode, Kirby can race around at high speeds, jumping over ramps and ramming into enemies!

Other new Mouthful Modes include Arch Mouth, allowing Kirby to glide through the air; Cone Mouth, which slows him down greatly, but allows him to poke through certain terrain; Light-Bulb Mouth, which can allow Kirby to brighten up dark rooms, at the cost of moving slower while doing so; and Vending Mouth, which allows Kirby to shoot juice cans at his foes.

Another thing new to the game is upgrading Copy Abilities! During his adventure, Kirby can visit Waddle Dee's Weapon Shop to evolve his Copy Abilities into stronger forms, and each one appears to have three levels of evolution. An example given of this was the Fire ability, which can evolve into Volcano Fire, than then mighty Dragon Fire! Each upgrade costs a certain amount of stars to evolve them.

The final shot of the trailer shows more members of the Beast Pack, who are the antagonists of the game. It also shows King Dedede is with them as well, though whether he's working for them, commanding them, or being mind-controlled is currently unknown.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will release on March 25, 2022.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land's release date revealed; co-op confirmed!

Nintendo released a new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which showed off more info for the upcoming Nintendo Switch game.

Two new Copy Abilities were shown off: Drill and Ranger. Drill has Kirby wear a giant Drill Hat, allowing him to dig underground and move around. Popping back up to the surface will have Kirby defeat anyone above him.

Ranger has Kirby wear an explorer's cap, as well as equip himself with a popgun that can fire star-shaped energy beams, allowing him to snipe at foes from afar. He can even charge it up to fire a more powerful blast!

Returning abilities also shown throughout include Bomb, Tornado, Hammer, Crash, Sword, and Fire.

You can also play the game with a friend! The second player controls Bandana Waddle Dee. While he can't Copy foes like Kirby can, he does carry a spear to attack foes with. A few of the moves seen are Bandana Waddle Dee tossing spears at faraway foes, and twirling the Spear above him to fly above the ground while simultaneously dropping small darts to foes down below him.

A bit of the game's story was also shown. Turns out that this "Forgotten Land" is home to Waddle Dee Town, where - who else? - Waddle Dees live. However, a mysterious - yet kind of adorable - group who call themselves the Beast Pack are capturing the citizens of Waddle Dee Town for unknown reasons.

Kirby also meets a flying mouse-like creature, who decides to tag along on Kirby's  - and Bandana Waddle Dee's - quest to rescue the Waddle Dees and stop the Beast Pack.

Speaking of which, Waddle Dee Town serves as the central hub for the game. Kirby can partake in various minigames here, such as serving Waddle Dees food, or even going fishing. There's even a little gachapon machine nearby where Kirby can collect in-game figurines!

The second-to-last shot of the trailer reveals that Meta Knight may also involved in the story in some way, as he flies towards Kirby to attack. It could also be possible that he's an opponent Kirby can face in the town's colosseum.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be released on March 25th, 2022.

Kirby explores some ruins in "Kirby and the Forgotten Land"

As revealed in yesterday's Nintendo Direct, Kirby will be exploring some forgotten ruins in "Kirby and the Forgotten Land." Unlike other Kirby games, which are sidescrollers, this one is a full 3D Platformer. This genre was briefly glimpsed at in Kirby Air Ride, and looks to be fully explored here.

From what can be seen from the trailers, Kirby washes up to the Fogotten Land, filled with abandoned buildings. Along with wandering the city streets, other locations show Kirby exploring a jungle, an arcade, and a desert.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be released sometime in the spring in 2022.

Super Smash Bros. Fighters – Kirby series – 03 King Dedede

Super Smash Bros. Fighters – Kirby series – 03 King Dedede

Debut

In the Kirby series: Kirby’s Dream Land (1992)
In the Super Smash Bros. series: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)

Boxing Ring Title: Self-Made King

Theme Song: King Dedede’s Theme (Brawl)

King Dedede is a reoccurring character in the Kirby series and the self-proclaimed "King of Dream Land." Originally depicted as a villain, later games would portray him as a well-meaning - if slightly selfish - individual, becoming Kirby's "arch-frienemy." Meta Knight, Bandana Waddle Dee, and a bunch of other various individuals serve underneath him.

In his debut in "Kirby's Dream Land," King Dedede stole all of Dream Land's food. Not only that, he also stole the five Wishing Stars, giving four of them to four of his henchmen: Whispy Woods, Lololo & Lalala, Kaboola, and Kracko. No one was willing to stand up to him... Well, no one except for a small pink puffball named Kirby. At the end of the game, King Dedede would battle Kirby on top of Mt. Dedede. Despite King Dedede's efforts, Kirby would defeat him, reclaiming the fifth Wishing Star and returning the stolen food to the citizens.

After that, a final scene with King Dedede plays, though what happens depends on the game mode. In the Normal Mode, King Dedede throws a fit before running off. In Extra Mode, King Dedede ends up sulking over his defeat before walking off, with Kirby following behind.

At some point after that, King Dedede would begin training himself to float in the air like Kirby, which he would master in time for his next appearance...

In "Kirby's Adventure," King Dedede manages to learn of Nightmare's plans to take over Dream Land by taking over the Fountain of Dreams and spreading his nightmares to the citizens. King Dedede manages to seal Nightmare away in the Star Rod, then proceeds to break it into seven pieces. He then gives six of the pieces to six of his henchmen - like Meta Knight - while keeping a piece for himself. After that, King Dedede decided to turn the Fountain of Dreams into his own private bubble bath.

However, without the Star Rod, people weren't able to have pleasant dreams, so Kirby arrived to investigate. Upon seeing King Dedede, Kirby assumed he was up to his old tricks and heads off to reclaim the Star Rod pieces. Once Kirby obtained the six pieces, he would fight King Dedede for the seventh piece. King Dedede would once again lose, allowing Kirby to restore the Star Rod. King Dedede would try to stop Kirby from placing it back on the Fountain of Dreams, but Kirby would ignore him. Putting it back in place, Kirby quickly learns why King Dedede was trying to stop him as Nightmare re-emerges! King Dedede quickly inhales both Kirby and the Star Rod before spitting them towards Nightmare. Once Kirby manages to defeat Nightmare, he apologizes to King Dedede, puts the Star Rod back in its proper place, and heads home to sleep.

In "Kirby's Dream Land 2," an evil being named Dark Matter arrives to Pop Star. Feeling angry and jealous of the close friendships that the inhabitants of the planet have, Dark Matter possesses King Dedede and destroys the Rainbow Bridges, before sending out little miniature versions of itself to possess certain inhabitants of Dream Land. Kirby and his friends learn of this, and they set out to not only stop Dark Matter, but also to find the seven Rainbow Drops.

At the Dark Castle, Kirby fights the possessed King Dedede. If all of the Rainbow Drops have been collected, then after defeating King Dedede, Kirby turns the Rainbow Drops into the Rainbow Sword as Dark Matter emerges from King Dedede to escape to the skies. Kirby gives pursuit, where he manages to defeat it after a tough battle. During the ending, King Dedede, along with the rest of Kirby's friends, are shown watching Kirby use the Rainbow Sword to restore the Rainbow Bridges.

The Dark Matter plot would be followed up on in "Kirby's Dream Land 3" and "Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards." Notably, the latter game would be the first time players could play as King Dedede, but only in certain levels.

King Dedede also appears in "Kirby Super Star" where he's the main antagonist in two of the game's modes: Spring Breeze, which is a retelling of the plot of "Kirby's Dream Land"; and Gourmet Race, where he has a race with Kirby to see who can find and eat the most food.

In the remake, "Kirby Super Star Ultra", along with reprising his roles in Spring Breeze and Gourmet Race, he also stars in a new mode called Revenge of the King. In it, King Dedede wants - what else? - revenge on Kirby for defeating him in Spring Breeze and Gourmet Race. To get it, he steals the Wishing Stars yet again, rallies his forces, fortifies his castle, creates a new alias called "Masked Dedede", and sends Kirby his challenge.

At the end of the game, Kirby arrives in King Dedede's arena, where the King gives Kirby a hammer so that they can fight on equal terms. Despite his efforts, Kirby manages to defeat King Dedede again, flinging him out of his castle. King Dedede is then seen sadly walking through a desert, with his band of Waddle Dees - and Bandana Waddle Dee - following behind him.

"Kirby's Return to Dream Land" would be the first time King Dedede would truly be playable in the mainline games, but only for the second, third, or fourth player in the main campaign. "Kirby Triple Deluxe" on the other hand, would give King Dedede his own unlockable campaign called "Dededetour." Dededetour sees King Dedede heading off to stop Queen Sectonia from conquering Dream Land, exploring the various areas of her kingdom while fighting off the various hordes she sends after him.

Personality-wise, King Dedede is portrayed as egocentric and gluttonous. He views Kirby as his main rival and often battles him for food and other various reasons. Despite his egotistical nature, he's not really evil, and is willing to to help Kirby save Dream Land from bigger threats, if not confronting them himself. King Dedede also seems to have a fondness for wrestling matches, since he tends to be fought in boxing rings.

King Dedede also shows up in the animated adaption "Kirby: Right Back At Ya'!" Like in the games, King Dedede is the self-proclaimed "King of Dream Land" and tends to be rather selfish. Unlike the games, he's portrayed as more of a tyrant, and as such most of the citizens dislike him and try to ignore him. He's often seen hanging out with Escargoon, his right-hand man and only friend. (and even he isn't too fond of King Dedede) The show also gives King Dedede a thick Texan accent.

Throughout the series, King Dedede tends to order monsters from Nightmare Enterprises in hopes that one of them can "Clobber that there Kirby!" As the show goes on, it becomes clear that most of his ire comes from the fact that he's jealous of Kirby's powers and popularity among the citizens of Dream Land. Regardless, he slowly begins to change his opinion on the little pink spud.

In Super Smash Bros, King Dedede is a heavy-weight who has the ability to jump four additional times in the air! With his trusty hammer, he should have no problem clobbering his opponents and sending them into orbit!

Special Moves

Neutral Special: Inhale/Spit

King Dedede opens his mouth to try and Inhale anyone in front of him.

Once he sucks up an opponent, King Dedede can then walk and hop around, though he’s somewhat slow and can’t jump very high due to the opponent in his stomach. Said opponent can also escape from him if he doesn’t Spit them out soon.

Pressing the Special Button or the Attack button will have King Dedede Spit his foe out as a star. The star can damage other opponents, and travels a certain distance before the foe returns to normal.

King Dedede can also use Inhale to eat nearby food and crates. He’ll even recover some damage by doing so!

King Dedede can also Inhale certain projectiles – like Mario’s Fireball – and spit them back at the offender, making Inhale act as a reflector of sorts.

If King Dedede inhales an explosive – like a Bob-omb – he’ll take damage, so be careful!

Inspired by one of King Dedede’s attacks during his boss fight in “Kirby’s Dream Land.” If King Dedede managed to inhale Kirby, he'd spit him out, damaging the little pink puff ball.

Side Special: Gordo Throw

King Dedede pulls out a Gordo and whacks it ahead of him! The Gordo will bounce three times before disappearing.

Depending on how whether you input the move like a regular attack or a Smash Attack, as well if you’re holding the control stick up or down, will change how far the Gordo flies. Neutral/forward covers a pretty long distance, up causes it to not go very far, and down’s distance is an in-between.

Opponents who deliver a powerful blow to the Gordo – or have a way to reflect it – can fling it back at King Dedede! Be careful!

King Dedede can also use Inhale on his own Gordo and Spit it out at lighting fast speeds if one wishes. It’s easiest to do with an angled up Gordo Throw.

The move is inspired by King Dedede’s previous Side Special, Waddle Dee Toss, in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl." When using the move, King Dedede had a very rare chance to toss a Gordo instead of a Waddle Dee, or even a Waddle Doo. In other words, this move is original to Super Smash Bros.

Gordos are common enemies in the Kirby series, serving as dangerous, undefeatable obstacles. In “Kirby Star Allies,” King Dedede’s doppelganger, Parallel Dedede, utilizes Gordo Throw in an identical manner during his boss fight.

Up Special: Super Dedede Jump

King Dedede takes a second to crouch before jumping up super high! During the crouch, you can angle the trajectory King Dedede will fling himself, but once he jumps, you're committed to it. As King Dedede is falling, anyone nearby will get flung towards the ground!

Once he lands, two stars will shoot out from King Dedede’s sides. These stars aren’t very strong, but deal decent damage.

As King Dedede is falling, you can cancel out of the attack by pressing the Jump Button. This not only lets him fall much slower, but it also allows you move King Dedede, making it easier to angle him where you want him to land.

If you cancel the jump when you’re too close to the ground, King Dedede will suffer a crash landing, leaving him open for an attack!

If there’s an impassable ceiling above King Dedede as he’s using Super Dedede Jump, he’ll bump his head and end the move early.

Inspired by one of his during his boss fight in “Kirby’s Dream Land.” King Dedede would jump into the air, and upon landing, two stars would pop out from his sides. Kirby could inhale these stars and spit them back at King Dedede to damage him.

Down Special: Jet Hammer

King Dedede brings his hammer to his side behind him, revealing a jet engine inside the hammer. King Dedede will then forcibly swing the hammer in front of him.

If you hold the Special Button, King Dedede will charge the hammer. Once it’s fully charged, King Dedede will twirl around as he swings it, allowing him to hit people from behind!

Be careful! Once the Jet Hammer is fully charged, King Dedede will slowly take damage until you either release the button to swing, or if he gets attacked.

Inspired by Kirby’s Hammer ability in “Kirby’s Adventure.” The ability to perform the Hammer Flip attack with it would debut in “Kirby Super Star.”

Although he wields a hammer, King Dedede wouldn’t be seen using the Hammer Flip move until "Kirby's Return to Dream Land."

Final Smash: Dede-Rush

King Dedede starts by swinging his mallet in front of him, Whoever he hits get sent into a caged arena. If King Dedede hits more than one foe, than whoever is the closest gets flung to the caged arena, while the other simply get flung away.

King Dedede, now in his Masked Dedede alias, begins barraging the opponent with missiles from his hammer…

And caps the move off by performing Hammer Swing while rushing straight towards the opponent to smack them with his jet-powered mallet!

If King Dedede is unable to hit anyone with the first swing, the move fails.

Inspired by Masked Dedede’s boss fight in “Kirby Super Star Ultra.” During the fight, King Dedede attacks Kirby by launching missiles from his mallet, as well as performing the Hammer Swing.

Also inspired by King Dedede's boss fight in "Kirby Block Ball," which was the first game to show King Dedede firing missiles from his trusty hammer.

Additional Notes

In the Super Smash Bros. series, King Dedede is voiced by Masahiro Sakurai, the person who created both the Kirby series and the Super Smash Bros. series. Cool, huh? This wouldn't be the first time Masahiro Sakurai voiced him, as he also did his voice for "Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards."

King Dedede was originally planned to be included as a playable in “Super Smash Bros. 64,” but it didn’t happen. That being said, he still makes an appearance in the background of the “Dream Land” stage. Speaking of which, if you play as King Dedede on that stage, then he won't show up in the background.

Super Smash Bros. Fighters - Kirby series - 02 Meta Knight

Super Smash Bros. Fighters - Kirby series - 02 Meta Knight

Debut
In the Kirby series: Kirby’s Adventure (1993)
In the Super Smash Bros. series: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)

Boxing Ring Title: The Masked Swordsman

Theme Song: Meta Knight’s Revenge

Meta Knight is a mysterious character in the Kirby series. He and his loyal members called the "Meta-Knights" serve underneath King Dedede. He is the wielder of the blade, Galaxia, and his cape can transform into bat-like wings.

Meta Knight makes his debut in the game "Kirby's Adventure." In that game, King Dedede used the Star Rod to seal away the evil wizard named Nightmare, and then broke the Star Rod into seven pieces. He then gave Meta Knight one of the pieces to guard. Throughout the adventure, Meta Knight occasionally helps Kirby out on his adventure to reclaim the Star Rod pieces, though he also sics his Meta-Knights on him as well. At Orange Ocean, Meta Knight decides to confront Kirby himself. Giving Kirby a sword to use, the two do battle against one another. Kirby manages to defeat Meta Knight, even slicing off his mask! With his defeat, Meta Knight quickly teleports away, though he does leave his piece of the Star Rod for Kirby to collect.

Meta Knight would then appear in "Kirby Super Star." More specifically, he appears in the game mode Revenge of Meta Knight. Meta Knight has grown tired of Dream Land's lazy ways, and decides to forcefully take over Dream Land through the use of his airship, the Halberd. Kirby catches wind of this and uses his Warp Star to land on the ship to take it down. Throughout the game mode, Meta Knight and his army try to slow Kirby's progress down and fling him off of their ship. While they succeed in doing so twice, they are unable to fling him off a third time. They keep sending their goons after him, but Kirby manages to fend them off and cause heavy damage to the Halberd. As Meta Knight's army abandons ship, Meta Knight decides to stay to confront Kirby himself. Following their duel, Meta Knight ends up getting overpowered and loses his mask, forcing him to once again retreat. However, he quickly gets a new mask and chases Kirby down as the little pink spud tries to escape off of the sinking Halberd. Ultimately, Kirby gets away, and Meta Knight's plans are foiled.

Meta Knight's appearance in "Kirby and the Amazing Mirror" sees him heading to the Mirror World when he senses danger there. Upon arriving, his Mirror World counterpart, Dark Meta Knight, approaches him. The two duel, with Dark Meta Knight besting him and sealing Meta Knight away in the Dimension Mirror. Dark Meta Knight then shatters said mirror into nine pieces and scatters them throughout Mirror World. He then decides to take on the identity of his good counterpart. Once Kirby and his three clones manage to restore the Dimension Mirror, they jump inside and are "greeted" by the disguised Dark Meta Knight, only for the real Meta Knight to arrive. Dark Meta Knight then removes his disguise and battles the four Kirbys. Once Kirby and his three clones succeed, a portal to the evil mastermind behind things, Dark Mind, opens up and sucks the four in, though Meta Knight manages to throw his sword into the portal so Kirby can use it to defeat the villain. Once Dark Mind is defeated, Meta Knight heads home with the Kirbys, but not before leaving a copy of his sword for the citizens of the Mirror World to use in times of need.

Meta Knight would make his first playable appearance in "Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland", a remake of Kirby's Adventure. Specifically, he would be playable in the game's unlockable "Meta Knightmare" mode, which sees Meta Knight deciding to do some sword training. This game mode would be followed up on in "Kirby Super Star Ultra," a remake of Kirby Super Star, which included the game mode called Meta Knightmare Ultra. In this game's story, Meta Knight wants to get stronger, and thus travels through various locations in Dream Land, before taking off to explore the various planets nearby. Near the end of his journey, Meta Knight summons Galactic Nova ands makes a wish to fight "the greatest warrior in the galaxy." Galactic Nova then summons Galacta Knight, an ancient warrior who was sealed away because people feared his powers. Meta Knight would manage to defeat Galacta Knight, after which he would fly back home.

Personality-wise, Meta Knight is portrayed as a stoic and serious character. He is quite passionate about his swordsman skills, and constantly seeks out means to make himself stronger. He also tends to follow a code of honor: whenever he decides to battle Kirby, he always hands Kirby a sword so that they can fight on equal terms. While he tends to mean well, he can sometimes fall into the extremist side, as shown in Revenge of Meta Knight where he decided to forcefully take over Dream Land to end the citizen's laziness. Meta Knight also has a fondness for sweet food; he secretly enjoys parfait on late nights, and especially likes afogatto, coffee, and chocolate.

Meta Knight also shows up in the animated adaption "Kirby: Right Back At Ya'." Just like in the games, Meta Knight serves under King Dedede, though not out of loyalty, as he doesn't have much respect for the king. He does it to protect the citizens of Dream Land from the monsters King Dedede purchases from Nightmare Enterprises, as well as hoping that a new Star Warrior will arrive due to said monsters. Additionally, his "Meta-Knights" have been reduced to just Sword Knight and Blade Knight. Once Kirby, a really young Star Warrior, arrives in Dream Land and decides to live near Cappy Town, Meta Knight begins to act as his mentor, training him in the ways of being a Star Warrior. Beyond that, he rarely gets involved in Kirby's life.

The anime also looks into Meta Knight's backstory now and then. He used to be part of the Star Warriors, fighting against Nightmare's tyranny. His closest friends in the Star Warriors army was Garlude and Knuckle Joe's Father. As the years have gone by, the Star Warriors numbers would slowly deplete, and Meta Knight would lose his two close friends due to different circumstances. He would then travel the stars hoping to find more Star Warriors, which lead him into finding and recruiting Sword Knight and Blade Knight. Eventually, Meta Knight would stop at Dream Land to wait for the arrival of a new Star Warrior.

Notably, Meta Knight's eyes would sometimes change color, which usually reflected what emotion he was currently feeling. If he's happy or calm, they're blue. If he's thoughtful, they're green. If he's angry, they're red. And if he's amused, they're pink. The show also gave him a Spanish accent.

In Super Smash Bros., Meta Knight can jump five additional times in the air like Kirby, and his mastery of the sword and other tricks ensures his opponents will never know what hit them!

Special Moves

Neutral Special: Mach Tornado

Meta Knight twirls around at super speeds, engulfing himself in a golden tornado of sorts. Meta Knight can move left or right at incredible speeds, and rapidly tapping the Special Button will make Meta Knight rise, as well as extend the duration of the move. Anyone he bumps into will get sent flying upward, but they can only get it by it once per-use, it’s best to try and get away after hitting them.

Inspired by Kirby’s Tornado ability that debuted in “Kirby's Adventure.” The Tornado ability allows Kirby to encase himself in a tornado to attack, and he can freely move around as he uses it.

Meta Knight would be seen utilizing it in his Boss Fight in “Kirby Super Star.” In future games, the name of the move refers to a different attack: a move Meta Knight uses by charging up his sword and stabbing the ground, which sends out a massive tornado.

Side Special: Drill Rush

Meta Knight, with his sword extended, charges forward in a spiral. He can also head upwards and downwards as he travels. Anyone he hits gets dragged with him.

If Meta Knight manages to land the final hit of the move on the opponent, he’ll do a small recoil jump. Otherwise, he’ll immediately start to fall.

Inspired by Kirby's Master ability from "Kirby and the Amazing Mirror." By performing a dash attack, Kirby would perform a similar-looking move while wielding Meta Knight's sword.

Meta Knight would be seen performing something similar in “Kirby Air Ride” as his Quick Spin Attack.

Up Special: Shuttle Loop

Meta Knight does an uppercut slash with his sword, goes into a loop, and the slashes again while rising higher!

Inspired by Kirby's Wing ability that debuted in "Kirby Super Star," where one of his attacks is performing a Shuttle Loop. However, Kirby did not wield a sword, and also needed to pick up an enemy and toss them to perform it.

Meta Knight would first be seen using the move in "Kirby's Return to Dream Land."

Down Special: Dimensional Cape

Meta Knight swings his cape over himself and disappears.

If you're holding the Special button, Meta Knight will reappear and perform a powerful slash! Otherwise Meta Knight just reappears without attacking.

If you’re holding the control stick in any direction, Meta Knight will teleport in that direction, which can be used as either an approach or as a “get away” move.

Inspired by how Meta Knight tends to wrap himself up in his cape and jump away after being defeated in battle, which was first seen in “Kirby’s Adventure.” Meta Knight has never been shown using it to attack, though.

Final Smash: Darkness Illusion

Meta Knight transforms his cape into its batwing form, and shouts either “Know my power!” or “Behold…!” as he raises his sword high. Lightning bolts begin to shoot out around Meta Knight in a cross-like pattern, and anyone hit by them gets sent to the top-center of the battlefield.

Meta Knight then begins barraging anyone caught with a bunch of slashes from his sword, Galaxia, before finishing up with a final slash that sends opponents away from him.

Inspired by Meta Knight’s move, Upper Caliber, in “Kirby Star Allies.” In that game though, all he had to do to perform it was to land a charged uppercut rather then shoot out lightning and then follow up with it if the lightning hit.

The lightning aspect seems to be taken from Meta Knight being infused with the Zap ability in "Kirby Star Allies," as well as when he’s performing the Mach Tornado in “Kirby Super Star.”

Additional Notes

Meta Knight has an alternate costume inspired by Galacta Knight. Galacta Knight made his debut in “Kirby Super Star Ultra,” and is the final boss of the Meta Knightmare Ultra mode. Not much is known about Galacta Knight, other then that long ago in the ancient past,  he used to be a renown hero who was known through his title “The Strongest Warrior in the Galaxy”. He also has incredible strength, and is stated to be capable of destroying “a nearby planet or two”. He was sealed away long ago by an unknown force who feared his power, but Meta Knight decides to free him to prove that HE’S the strongest. After that, Galacta Knight tends to show up in later games as a powerful – but optional – boss fight.

Meta Knight also has an alternate costume based on Dark Meta Knight. Dark Meta Knight debuted in “Kirby and the Amazing Mirror” and is the primary antagonist. Hailing from the Mirror Dimension, Dark Meta Knight was created to help in the conquest of both the Mirror Dimension and Dream Land. Dark Meta Knight even tries to pass himself off as his good counterpart, though his disguise was quite easy to see through since he doesn’t bother to fight Kirby evenly by giving him a sword to wield against him. Despite supposedly getting shattered at the end of the adventure, future games would show Dark Meta Knight somehow survived, and is plotting revenge…

Meta Knight’s sword, Galaxia, was first named in “Super Smash Bros. Brawl.” Before that, his sword didn’t have a name, the closest it had was being called “Master” in “Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.” The design of the sword was also in flux until “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” finalized it. So for fifteen years, Galaxia’s design was inconsistent and it had no name.

Underneath that mask of his, Meta Knight is essentially a Dark-Blue Kirby. Could he be related to Kirby?
