Ubisoft officially unveils Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

After Nintendo accidentally revealed the game a bit earlier that anticipated, Ubisoft officially revealed Mario + Rabbid Sparks of Hope during their E3 Presentation!

Sparks of Hope is a sequel to 2017's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and sees Mario and his friends team up with their Rabbid doppelgangers once more to save the galaxy from an intergalactic threat called Cursa. Cursa is planning on conquering the galaxy by utilizing the power of Sparks, unique creatures who are the fusion of a Luma and a Rabbid. Utilizing a spaceship, Mario and friends will travel across the galaxy to free the planets Cursa has conquered and rescue the Sparks.

While gameplay is pretty similar to the previous game, Ubisoft has said they are adding new action elements that will push the boundaries of the Tactical RPG genre. Sparks will act as power-ups for Team Mario, giving the heroes a distinct ability upon being collected. New characters are also joining the adventure, such as Rabbid Rosalina, as well as a currently-unnamed goth-looking Rabbid.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is planned to be released sometime in 2022.
