Sonic Prime announced for Netflix, Tails's and Amy's voice actors leaving the Sonic series
A few days ago on the 1st of February, SEGA announced a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon called "Sonic Prime." Sonic Prime will be the sixth animated Sonic show, following the Sonic Boom cartoon, and is expected to begin airing on Netflix sometime in 2022. The show will be 3D animated, and will have 24 episodes. The show's plot has been described as a "high-octance adventure" starring Sonic as he attempts to save a newly discovered multiverse. It's also been described as "a journey of self-discovery and redemption."
When asked on Twitter, Sonic Prime's writer, Duncan Rouleau - perhaps best well-known by fans for writing the Ben 10 series - has revealed the possibility of Sonic meeting other SEGA properties during the show. If this does happen, it wouldn't be the first time Sonic did so, as he's previously done so in the games like "Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed," where he and his friends got to race with the likes of Jet Set Radio's Beat and Gum, Space Channel 5's Ulala and Pudding, and Super Monkey Balls's AiAi and MeeMee.
In related news, when fans asked Colleen O’Shaughnessey if she'd be voicing Tails in the show, she responded with "No. I'm sorry to say I'm not." While this statement doesn't entirely mean she may be leaving the role, Cindy Robinson - current voice for Amy Rose - responded to a fan on Twitter that may suggest otherwise, as Cindy confirms that she's also leaving the role of Amy. This follows the news that Sonic's voice actor, Roger Craig Smith, is leaving the role of Sonic. Who their replacements will be has not been revealed yet.
